6 Surefire Signs You’re a Prepper

6 Surefire Signs You’re a Prepper

Whether you’re one of those “crazy” preppers, or you’re just the average Joe of the prepper world, we’re all one and the same. One thing is for sure though, being a prepper comes with its own unique qualities. If you can relate to any of these telltale signs, then there’s no doubt about it, you’re a part of the crew.

6 surefire signs you’re a part of the prepper community:

Acronyms like SHTF and TEOTWAWKI make sense to you

If you’ve been a part of the prepper community for a while, you’re probably pretty familiar with the crazy amount of acronyms used to talk about our plans. If you’re a newbie, chances are you’ve come across a couple that have you scratching your head. Don’t worry though, when SHTF and TEOTWAWKI are upon us, you’ll figure out real quick what they mean.

Your basement is basically a grocery store

When SHTF, everyone is going to be running to the grocery store in hopes that there are still a few water bottles and batteries left - but not you. If anything, the people who knew you were prepping will be knocking on your door begging for some survival supplies!

Your dog is more prepared than your neighbor

Disaster planning is for more than just humans; it’s for your pets, too. A dog is a man’s best friend after all. If you’ve ever seen I Am Legend, you know having a dog can keep you sane at times. Don’t worry, if you haven't gotten your pooch prepped, check out these tips on how to get them started with their own dog-out bag.

Your kids are embarrassed about what you leave the house wearing

We’re not talking about your lame shirt with the dad joke on it (but if you need a better choice in tees, here you go). We’re talking more along the lines of your ReadiMask. Sorry kids, but we’re not trying to inhale any of those airborne particles. If you’d rather be safe than fashionable, then congrats, you’re one of us.

You’ve eaten insects on more than one occasion

To be honest, everyone has, but probably not on purpose. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and it’s better to get your stomach ready for bug consumption now than when it’s the only choice you have. But, if you really need to ease into it, you can always try these bacon and cheese flavored crickets. Just saying, they’re not half bad...

You can survive on everything in your backpack

There are only so many things you can fit in one bug-out bag, plus it takes a lot of practice to figure out how to properly pack it. Meanwhile, your wife can’t even go on a week-long vacation without bringing three suitcases. Just to double check though, you have these 8 essential items packed, right?

Now’s the moment of truth. How many of these are speaking straight to you? Can you consider yourself a true member of the prepper community? Or do you need a little more knowledge, practice, and gear to make the cut?
