4 Life-Threatening Situations Most Preppers Forget to Prepare for

True preppers know that a SHTF situation can occur at any given time, so you need to be prepared for every scenario possible. Even with all of the gear in the world, most seasoned preppers forget to prepare for certain life-threatening situations. Check out these four scenarios that most preppers forget to prepare for so that you won’t be one of them when SHTF.

You wind up alone.

When SHTF, the number one, absolutely, positively, “you're going to die” mistake you can make is to take the lone-wolf approach. Even though you may believe that living independently from others is the best option, most of the time you’re only setting yourself up for failure. Being alone when SHTF means you have to juggle protecting your area, preparing food, sleeping, and other essential tasks that could distract you from properly protecting yourself. Make sure you properly coordinate a game-plan with your neighbors or fellow preppers for when SHTF to make sure no man is left behind.

You have a mental breakdown.

We all like to think that when SHTF, our inner tough guy will take over, teeth gnarled and fists clenched. But the reality is that many preppers overestimate how tough they’ll be when a dangerous situation occurs. Make sure that you practice ways to keep yourself calm in the face of a disaster. Remember, besides panicking, the worst thing you can do is misjudge your ability when it’s already too late.

Others turn on you.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and it’s only human nature to do what’s in the best interest of yourself, especially during SHTF situations. If you’re the only prepper in your neighborhood, there’s a good chance that when SHTF, your neighbors are going to want in on your loot - no matter what they have to do to get it. Make sure that you coordinate with your neighbors, before any situation arises, on how to share resources when a life-threatening situation occurs.

You get severely injured.

We’re not just talking about a little bump or scrape; we’re talking something bigger, like getting hit by a bullet. When SHTF, those who aren’t preppers have an “every man for themselves” mentality. Regardless of where you set up camp, there’s always the risk of injury. Your little first-aid kit won’t do much if you get hit by a bullet. The best thing you can do is invest in an elite first-aid medical kit before you find yourself in a life-or-death situation.

The most important things you can do to prepare yourself for any and all possible SHTF situations is to fine tune your skills, be honest with yourself about how much you know, and anticipate how you would react to certain situations.
